National Cancer Information Center
The National Cancer Information Center (NCIC) started providing
cancer-related
information services in June 2005. It was designed to give
the general public, cancer patients & their family members
the most up-to-date, evidence-based information on cancer
and practical advice on how to relieve themselves of fears
and uncertainties related with cancer. The NCIC carries out its functions mainly through
a call center (1577-8899), web site (www.cancer.go.kr), and
publications.
The NCIC website currently records more than 40,000 hits
per month. The web portal services include common cancer information,
FAQ, national cancer statistics, various kinds of educational
materials and medical vocabulary services.
Preparing the publication of the booklets and leaflets on every aspect of cancer, The NCIC plans to support health professionals by offering them the most-up-to-date information on cancer research.
