External Cooperation
As cancer is a worldwide public health problem, concerted efforts are needed to address the challenges that the global community face in the fight against cancer. NCC tries to pursue mutually beneficial cooperative relations with other organizations in and out of Korea by actively joining partnership activities.
International Cooperation

WHO
NCC was designated as a WHO Collaborating Center for Cancer Registration, Prevention and Early Detection in July 2005.

IARC
The Korean government joined the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a full member country in 2006. As the national contact point for this Lyon-based international research organization devoted to cancer prevention worldwide, NCC??is actively participating in collaborative programs with the IARC by concluding an MOU at Lyon on August 2008. Also, NCC and the IARC has held 2 joint international courses in 2006 and 2009 on molecular epidemiology and cancer registration.

NCI
A Letter of Intent to cooperate was exchanged with the National Cancer Institute of the U.S. in July 2006. Forms of cooperation include conducting coordinated research projects; education, exchange and training of scientists; exchange of delegations and materials; information and technology sharing in support of activities of mutual interest; meetings and scientific conferences

ANCCA
NCC played a pivotal role in establishing the Asian National Cancer Centers Alliance (ANCCA), a regional cooperative network for cancer, by hosting its inauguration meeting in September 2005. Nine cancer organizations from Asia joined the network, including the NCC of both Japan and Singapore. From the 3rd meeting, 2009 held at China, India jointed this alliance as the 10th nation.

APOCP
Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention(APOCP) has been organized in 2002 to promote an increased awareness in all areas of cancer prevention/control and to stimulate research and practical intervention approaches. In year 2011 the 5th APOCP Regional Conference will be held in NCC, Korea titled Towards ???Cancer Prevention for All??? in the Asia-Pacific Region. Currently the 3rd president of NCC is the Secretary-General of the APOCP from 2006.

NCC, Japan
An agreement of cooperation in the form of joint declaration was made with the National Cancer Center of Japan in August, 2001. As part of this partnership, each center organizes a joint cancer research workshop annually by turn
